With March being Ethnic Skin Care month, I will be examining and
providing solutions to the many problems us women of color face. The
first one I'd like to examine is Hyper-pigmentation.
Hyper pigmentation by definition
is an excessive deposition of bodily pigment. In other words, the skin
appears with too much pigmentation in it which is usually the result of
an injury to the skin, including picking pimples! Of course,
hyperpigmentation can also be the result of various diseases. However,
for the sake of simplicity and focus on caring for skin that isn't
necessarily "diseased", let's examine hyperpigmentation resulting from
acne
When you squeeze a pimple, bump or whatever you want to call it, you are in essence causing trauma and injury to the skin. Basically,
we are talking about blemishes here.
