Natural Hyperpigmentation Treatment

With March being Ethnic Skin Care month, I will be examining and providing solutions to the many problems us women of color face.  The first one I'd like to examine is Hyper-pigmentation.

Hyper pigmentation by definition is an excessive deposition of bodily pigment. In other words, the skin appears with too much pigmentation in it which is usually the result of an injury to the skin, including picking pimples! Of course, hyperpigmentation can also be the result of various diseases.  However, for the sake of simplicity and focus on caring for skin that isn't necessarily "diseased", let's examine hyperpigmentation resulting from acne

When you squeeze a pimple, bump or whatever you want to call it, you are in essence causing trauma and injury to the skin.  Basically, we are talking about blemishes here. So, obviously the best hyperpigmentation treatment resulting from acne is not to agitate the affected skin.

In an event, some of us just can't resist picking or popping that pimple.  In some cases, you may still experience some hyperpigmentation even if you don't mess with the acne breakout.

Should you periodically get blemishes or should you get mild hyperpigmentation, then I have some natural remedies to share with you to help you to fade those dark spots.  Unfortunately, if your hyperpigmentation is severe and it's really affecting your psyche, there are pharmaceutical treatments that contain stronger ingredients like

vinegar

hydroquinone and they may prove more effective.  However, you should check in with a dermatologist.  That's not to say that you can not benefit from natural methods.  Try them. They certainly won't harm you.

Now here are 3 hyperpigmentation treatments for darker skin:

1- Apple Cider vinegar - very acidic and helps to lighten the skin naturally; Apply to skin twice daily (preferablyhoney for hyperpigmentation

2- Lemon Juice and Honey - A mixture of  1:1, Apply with a cotton puff and allow to sit on skin for approximately 15 minutes daily.

3- MicroDermabrasion at Home - You are basically exfoliating away the dead skin and lifting the darkened layer.  To create a mixture for microdermabrasion, add one cup of salt to two tablespoons of olive oil .  Mix well and exfoliate your skin with it. Do this three times a week a the same time each day.

Do you suffer from Hyperpigmentation/Dark Spots/Blemishes?  Try one of these remedies and share your story.
