There are many different ways to examine your skin's appearance. Let's make a comparison to jewelry. If your skin was a piece of jewelry what would it be?
Look at the descriptions of the following 6 types of jewelry. Then look in the mirror and examine your skin. Take a look at your face and your body.
Which jewelry item(s) describes your skin's appearance (it may not be what you think and can be a combination)?
Let me know in the comments section.

There are many measures of success. Some measure success based on how much money they make. Others, on how much attention they get.
Only you can truly measure your success in an area. It's starts off with the goals you have set for yourself. If you set a goal to lose weight, then your success comes when you have lost some pounds.

Exposing what truly makes one beautiful is what the focus of this blog is all about:

It's no secret. Women of color tend to age more gracefully
than Caucasian women. A lot of that has to do with our pigmentation
which helps provide some natural sun protection and protection
from other elements.
However, just because you have beautifully
pigmented skin doesn't mean you are immune to skin damage.

People are constantly looking for a long list of benefits when buying skin care products and rightfully so. However, you set yourself up for disappointment if you think you can find a product to take care of your skin that answers it all:
Does it moisturize?
Does it protect my skin from the sun?
Will it even my skin tone?
Does it minimize oil production?
Does it prevent wrinkles?
Does it make me look like Beyonce? No way in.

When it comes to buying skin care products, you'll be hard pressed to find products with no fragrance. Most moisturizers and even cleansers contain fragrance in them because that fragrance is used to mask the scent of the other ingredients in the product that don't smell very good.

Well, that can be applied to just about everything in life. Let's

If you struggle with acne like I did, you are not alone. I thought it was because of me.

Acne is a common problem amongst women of color. Could it be our spicy culture or just our spicy nature?
Probably neither but in any event, acne is common and more times than
not, we try to do too many things at once to remedy the problem.
If
you suffer from acne, just as if you were trying to lose weight, don't
try to do too many things at once to get rid of it.

Among the many skin conditions that women of color experience, dry
patches are probably the most common. The rest of the body may be
dry but there are certain concentrated areas that tend to be even more
dry. This could be the result of a number of conditions. Eczema is one
but the other is Seborrhea dermatitis.

Eczema is another common problem in women of color,
especially black women. Our skin is inherently dry by nature. Couple
that with dietary factors and eczema is the result.
While
many people view eczema as an external disease, it's actually
internal. Muscle response testing can get to the root of what foods
are causing you to have a reaction that's appearing in your skin.

With March being Ethnic Skin Care month, I will be examining and

Hyper pigmentation by definition
is an excessive deposition of bodily pigment. In other words, the skin
appears with too much pigmentation in it which is usually the result of
an injury to the skin, including picking pimples! Of course,
hyperpigmentation can also be the result of various diseases.

While women of color come in beautiful shades and tones, with that
beauty comes some common skin issues that need to be addressed. Over
the next month as we celebrate Ethnic Skin Care month, I will give an overview of some of the most common skin conditions that affect ethnic skin.
Along
with an overview of the skin conditions, I will share some natural
remedies that are affordable and have proven effective for many.

Black
History month just ended but I think it's important to keep it going
with a more specific focus on skin care for women of color. That's why
I'm deeming the month of March as "Ethnic Skin Care Month."
Ethnic skin care month is not just about women of African descent but
also Latinas, Native Americans and ALL women of color. We have special
skin care concerns and addressing them during the month of March is
what Ethnic skin care month is all about!
Going
forward, beginning this year 2010 Reviyve LLC will be recognizing women
of color and our specific care needs every March.
