Editorial

Welcome to all new and existing subscribers!  You'll notice that the Ezine has received a makeover. My apologies for getting it out late.  I was at a woman's retreat for the last three days. So, while I hate to put business on hold, on the other hand, I had a fabulous time and a much needed break.

I hope you enjoy this Ezine. You can expect to receive tips and tools along side of our exclusive discounts for Ezine subscribers.

Thank you for your time.

Soy Candles vs Paraffin Candles
by Michelle Howard Smith

Soy is naturally grown and is non-toxic. The majority of the world’s candle makers use wax made from paraffin, an un-natural oil based product that comes from petroleum. Here are the distinctions between soy wax and paraffin wax:

  • Soy wax burns completely, Paraffin wax usually leaves portion of the wax at the bottom of the container.
  • Soy wax burns at a cooler temperature which makes the burn time for the candle longer, so that you can enjoy your candle longer.

  • Soy wax candles cost more but they are worth the added expense.  Manufacturer's have an under hand profit motive for continuing to use paraffin wax candles. It's very cheap for them to make and then they sell it to you for a higher price.

  • Soy wax is biodegradable so it's easier to clean up.  Paraffin based candles can cause damage to carpet, clothing and furniture

  • Lastly, but most importantly, Paraffin wax candles release a number of number of toxins and carcinogens into the air while burning, making them toxic to inhale over time. Soy wax candles are non-toxic and are the most environmentally friendly candles available.

Stop using Paraffin wax candles today. Try Soy. You won't be disappointed.  The essential oils combined with the Soy Candles provide a calming aromatherapeutic effect with a natural scent.

Some facts to be aware of:
*A candle can be called "Soy" and be only 25% Soy and 75% Paraffin!

*USA TODAY wrote that the EPA recommends against burning petroleum-based candles due to Invisible Emissions and Black Soot.
