You've
probably heard conflicting information about the food you eat and how
it can cause acne. Some say what you eat has nothing to do with acne.
Others disagree. Well, have you bothered to check it out for yourself?
After all if you have acne prone skin, you need to find out for
yourself if certain foods trigger an acne breakout.
I've
discovered that there are three top foods to help acne; really they are food
types. The nay sayers will tell you it doesn't matter what you eat but
don't you owe it to your skin to check it out? I'll get right to it
because your time is precious and so is mine.
Here are the top 3 types of foods to help
acne:
Bright Red Fruits - watermelon, cherries, tomatoes (yes it's a fruit), mangoes
Orange Fruits - oranges, tangerines, cantaloupe, apricots, mangoes (hey it could be red or orange)
Vegetables - carrots, sweet potatoes, brocoli, squash, spinache, collard greens, red peppers
Do
you know the one thread that these foods to help acne have in common?
They are all rich in beta-carotene which your body easily converts into
vitamin A. What's the big deal about that? Hmmm, let's see. Vitamin A
reduces excess oil in the skin which guess what? Encourages acne!
Overactive sebaceous glands cause an increase in oil production so
much so that the glands can get blocked up, resulting in bacteria which
causes....you guessed it. Acne. If you can normalize your skin's oil
production, you actually stand a fighting chance of preventing or at
the very least reducing the number of acne breakouts you have.
Foods to Avoid
Now
you know it wouldn't be right if I provided you with foods to help acne
without sharing with you the foods you should avoid that actually encourage
acne. Here are foods you should avoid:
- Iodine rich salt
- Shellfish (sorry sea food lovers) - this food is full of toxins
- Sugary deserts (you can enjoy pure chocolate though yippee!)
So, go get those foods to help
acne that I mentioned above. Not only will you have a healthy level of
beta-carotene to help you fight acne, but you'll also fight off certain cancers. What a bonus!
