You might be surprised to learn the skin care advice tips I'm about to share. There are five inexpensive foods right under your nose, in your own home that can help you get the beautiful skin you've been longing for. I like to refer to these five foods as "super foods." The reason is that these five super foods are actually a part of your every day diet. They can transform dull, dry skin into beautiful healthy looking skin in a matter of days.
Before sharing these five foods for beautiful skin, I want to remind you of one of the most important basic skin care advice tips you've probably heard so much that it now echoes: "You must have a consistent daily skin care regimen." Sound familiar? That's because this statement is the basis for achieving and maintaining healthy skin for the long term. There are no quick fixes. Eventually, bad habits and age will catch up with you. The so called "quick fixes" to make your skin "appear" beautiful, pale in comparison to time tested healthy skin habits.
Now that I've been what I'd like to think is brutally honest about the importance of following a consistent daily skin care regimen, it's time to share the five items given to us by nature that can remarkably improve your skin's appearance.
Potatoes - Our champion carb does more than stick to your ribs with a side of meat! By simply adding a couple of slices of raw potatoes to your eyelids, you can dramatically reduce swelling and revive tired skin around the eye area.
Bananas - They aren't just great in smoothies. If you have dry skin, like many people of color, take a nice ripe banana and mash it up really well. Then, smooth the banana all over clean, dry skin. Yes, it's messy and you probably want to eat it off but before doing so, allow it to sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse well and follow with a good moisturizer.
Strawberries - Another great smoothie ingredient but also effective for helping to combat acne. Strawberries are a natural supplier of salicylic acid which is a popular ingredient in many acne skin care products. Crush up a half cup of strawberries with a half cup of plain yogurt. No, we aren't making a smoothie. The mixture should be applied to your face after it's been thoroughly cleansed.
Honey - You may have heard of this one before because really, there's nothing new under the sun. However, it does bear re-sharing. Honey has natural antibacterial properties that kill the germs associated with acne breakouts. In the evening, simply apply a layer of pure honey (preferably organic) to clean, dry skin. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes. A honey treatment can also be used to spot treat acne breakouts. When spot treating, place a dab of honey on your acne blemish and then cover with a sterile bandage. Allow it to sit over night. This will keep your skin sterile and speed up healing.
Brown Sugar - Brown is the natural color. White sugar has been refined. While it may still due the trick, it's best to stick with pure, unrefined sugar which is brown. Due to the coarseness of sugar, it makes an excellent exfoliating body scrub. Just combine one part brown sugar with one part olive oil and use all over your body when you shower. You will discover an amazing exfoliating moisturizer.
So, the next time you sit down to a meal, instead of just eating one of the five foods I just mentioned, remember these skin care advice tips and consider adding one or more of the super foods to your skin care beauty regimen.
