Skin Exfoliation: Using Skin Polishing or Exfoliation for Radiant Skin

Have you ever wondered how it
is that some people have fresh
radiant looking skin while others seem to look dried out and dull?
Well wonder no more. Let me share with you the benefits of skin
polishing.
Skin polishing and skin exfoliation are words that are used interchangeably. While the two skin care techniques are
closely related in that they both improve your appearance by removing dead skin
cells, skin exfoliation is slightly different from skin polishing in that it is
accomplished by manually using a facial or body scrub. Skin polishing on the other
hand, is usually a more mechanical process that takes skin exfoliatiion a step further to more
evenly smooth out the skin. Skin
polishing can however be accomplished manually with an AHA
peel or mechanically with a treatment called microdermabrasion.
You see, every 5 days or so your skin cells die and
regenerate. If you're like many people
who just wash their faces and nothing more then you have a layer of dead skin cells sitting on
top of a layer of healthy skin that's just screaming to be revealed. Ok, maybe not screaming but you get my
point. If you begin exfoliating your
skin at least once per week, the dead skin cells wouldn't be accumulating
on top of healthy skin and your appearance would definitely be more
radiant. However, let's take skin exfoliation
a step further to skin polishing.
Let's compare skin polishing to polishing and buffing a
car. After my black Escape is washed and
dried, it looks pretty spiffy but when I have the extra mullah to get it polished
and buffed, she's such a beauty. You can
see your reflection clear as day!
Skin polishing gives your skin that extra glow, that
radiance that manual exfoliation can't accomplish. Not only is a fresh layer of skin revealed
and your pores decongested, you also have smoothed out the texture of your skin
even further and encouraged healthy stimulation.
Regardless of if you do exfoliation or skin polishing,
always follow the treatment with a moisturizer with built in sun screen
of at least SPF 30 for your skin type. Your
skin is more sensitive after skin exfoliation and skin polishing so it's important
to protect it from sun damage. Also,
never skin polish or exfoliate more than twice per week. You don't want to irritate or remove your
skin's protective layer.
