Have you ever wondered howsome people have fresh radiant looking skin while others seem to look dried out and dull? Wonder no more. Let me share with you the benefits of skin polishing and how this simple technique can help you to have more radiant skin.
Skin polishing and skin exfoliation are words that are often used interchangeably. While the two skin care techniques are closely related in that they both improve your appearance by removing dead skin cells, skin exfoliation is slightly different from skin polishing in that it is accomplished by manually using a facial or body scrub. Skin polishing is usually a more mechanical process that takes skin exfoliation a step further to more evenly smooth out the skin. However, skin polishing can be accomplished manually by applying an AHA peel to the skin or mechanically by a treatment called microdermabrasion.
Every 5 days or so your skin cells die and regenerate. If you're like many people who just wash their faces and nothing more, then you have a layer of dead skin cells sitting on top of a layer of healthy skin that's just screaming to be revealed. Ok, maybe not screaming but you get the point. If you begin exfoliating your skin at least once per week, the dead skin cells wouldn't be accumulating on top of healthy skin and your appearance would definitely be more radiant. However, let's take skin exfoliation a step further to skin polishing.
Let's compare skin polishing to polishing and buffing a car. After my black Escape is washed and dried, it looks pretty spiffy but when I have the extra mullah to get it polished and buffed, it's even more of a beauty. You can see your reflection clear as day!
Skin polishing gives your skin that extra glow, that radiance that manual exfoliation can't accomplish. Not only is a fresh layer of skin revealed and your pores decongested, you also have a smoother texture of skin and healthy stimulation beneath the skin is encouraged.
Regardless of if you exfoliate or skin polish, always follow the treatment with a moisturizer for your skin type with built in sun screen containing an SPF of at least 30. Your skin is more delicate and sensitive after skin exfoliation and polishing. It's important to protect it from sun damage. Also, never skin polish or exfoliate more than twice per week. You don't want to irritate or remove your skin's protective layer.
