Rosacea Skin Problem© Michelle Howard Smith - All Rights Reserved
Remember the little girl from the 5th grade that always looked like she was blushing? Or, remember the lady at work with the red nose that people used to say reminded them of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer? OK, maybe those are my memories. However, I'm just trying to make a point. It's possible these people had Rosacea. No disrespect to the lady with the red nose or anyone for that matter. The lady also had red cheeks and it must have been embarrassing for her to have people whispering and thinking she did unsavory things with her nose. Explaining Rosacea and Its EffectsRosacea is a skin problem that causes symptoms similar to acne. However, the two are not the same. Rosacea is a condition that causes skin inflammation on the face. There is severe redness and pimples, mainly on the cheeks but also on the nose, chin and forehead. In addition to redness, the eyes may get dry and start burning. Something causes the blood vessels in the face to expand. It can be painful since the skin is prone to burning. The burning sensation is much like sunburn. It's not exactly known what causes this painful skin condition but studies show that it is hereditary and can get worse over time. While it is more common among fair skinned women between thirty and sixty years old, men are not exempt. Rosacea is also not life threatening but it is uncomfortable and hardly ever clears up by itself. Treatments for RosaceaA person with Rosacea may require the help of a Dermatologist to get a course of treatment started. In very severe cases, surgery may be required to remove extra tissue build up. Surgery helps to reduce the enlarged blood vessels. Over the counter skin care products have been used for treatment but they are too drying and contain chemicals. The dryness and chemical can aggravate the condition. This is another case for the use of natural skin care products. You can avoid making the condition worst by avoiding hot, spicy food, hot drinks, alcoholic beverages, hot baths, extreme temperatures and stress. It's also critical to ALWAYS wear sunblock (SPF30 or higher) when going outdoors. Sunblock should be work even when the sun is not shining. For women who wear make-up, natural mineral make-up should be the only choice (See a special below from Perfect Pigments by Christina Mineral make up) Rosacea is treatable and there is greater success when it is diagnosed early.
