Rosacea Skin Problem

Remember the little girl from the 5th grade that always looked like she
was blushing? Or better yet, remember the lady at work with the red
nose that people used to say reminded them of Rudolph the Red Nose
Reindeer? Ok, maybe those are my memories. However, I'm just trying
to make a point. It's possible these people had Rosacea. No
disrespect to the lady with the red nose or anyone with Rosacea for
that matter. The lady also had red cheeks and it must have been
embarrassing for her to have people whispering about her and thinking
she did unsavory things with her nose.
Rosacea is a skin problem that causes symptoms similar to acne.
However, the two are not the same. Rosacea is actually skin
inflammation on the face which results in severe redness and pimples,
mainly on the cheeks but also on the nose, chin and forehead. In
addition to that, the eyes may get dry and start burning. What happens
is that something causes the blood vessesls in the face to expand.
Rosacea can also be painful as the skin is prone to burning much like
sunburn. Men can get Rosacea but it is most common among women between
thirty and sixty years old with very fair skin.
It's not exactly known what the
cause of Rosacea is but studies show that Rosacea is hereditary and can
also get worse over time. While Rosacea is not life threatening, it is
uncomfortable and hardly ever clears up by itself. A person with
Rosacea may require the help of a Dermatologist to get a course of
treatment started. In very severe cases, surgery may be required to
remove extra tissue that's built. Surgery helps to reduce the enlarged
blood vessels.
Over the counter skin care
products are too drying and contain chemicals which can aggravate
Rosacea. This is another case for the use of natural skin care products.
Some things to avoid that may either trigger or worsen a case of
Rosacea are: hot, spicy food; hot drinks; alcoholic beverages;
emotional issues such as stress, hot baths and extreme temperatures.
It's also critical for people with Rosacea to ALWAYS wear sunblock
(SPF30 or higher) when going outside. . . even when the sun is not
shining.
For women, when choosing
make-up, use natural mineral make-up (See a special below from Perfect
Pigments by Christina Mineral make up) . It's non-comedogenic (won't clog your pores - which can worsen matters).
Rosacea is treatable and there is greater success with treatment when it is diagnosed early.
